Size: 15″ 1/8 h x 11″5/8 w (38.5 cm x 29 cm)
German-born fashion and art photographer HELMUT NEWTON created his own genre of highly-sexualized female fashion photography. He is considered now to be one of the greatest and most influential photographers of the 20th century. His photographic images that originally appeared in high fashion magazines such as Vogue now command ever ascending prices at major auction houses worldwide.
This work is a stunning, original black and white photo-lithograph made for Helmut Newton’s self-created portfolio-journal, “Helmut Newton’s Illustrated.” Only 4 editions were ever created, between 1984 and 1995. These large-format issues of “Helmut Newton’s Illustrated” were only printed once in this large size and have since only ever been reproduced in smaller anthology book form. So, this work is from the original series of which only a few thousand were ever printed.
The felt-tip pen SIGNATURE of Helmut Newton makes this copy even more valuable and collectible of course as he sadly died in 2004, at the Chateau Marmont Hotel in Hollywood, whilst on assignment for a series of portrait photographs of movie stars for an industry awards show in that same year.
